Working on a new pattern

So I started working on a new soakers pattern tonight. I spoke with a lady about two months ago and she is going to have her daughter review a soaker for our store so I’m getting it together for her since she had the baby early. He’s 5lbs a few oz and very adorable so I’m getting a soaker together for him that goes to 10lbs. It should fit him for a bit. I plan on making some little slippers to match the soaker if there is enough yarn left which I’m sure there will be since its cascade 220 yarn and the soaker in this size only calls for like 80 yards. So far I’m liking the pattern and really thrilled to be helping someone out. Plus the review will be great for the store. Can’t wait to hear her thoughts on it. Gotta buy coordinating buttons for it thinking something kitschy for it. Like bears or monkeys or something similar. But not sure yet. Just got started so I should be done by Thursday at the latest. Then I gotta get the trim on the vertabrae sweater done for the hospital when Jon’s sister goes into labor and finish my sons slippers. Got lots going on right now so will be very busy with that plus school ends this term on Wednesday so I have three finals to do and what ever homework they assign. But I’ll keep y’all posted. Here’s a starter picture to tease you with. Lol

Summer knitting

Lately I have been addicted to house slippers for littles and bigs. Lol. It’s been fun finding all these new patterns to knit little shoes for my family and my craft table for the downtown market. I’m enjoying the many patterns I have come across and learning new techniques. Here are some pictures of the latest projects.

WWKIP

So yesterday I told you how I went to Panera for WWKIP week. What I didn’t tell you was that my friend E gave my partner A some yarn cause she showed up and didn’t have anything to crochet with. I provided the hook and she made a headband for a girl about two-three years old. So I asked her if she wanted to keep the yarn, cause I liked it., and she said she didn’t like the feel of it, it’s a ball of pretty brown tan and purple wool. Any who, she gave me the ball and so I took it home. Well I decided to make a pair of slippers or booties to go with the headband, you know so its a set. So I found this great pattern and cast on today. I made one and started another one. The buttons are coordinating but mismatched colors which really stinks cause if like them to match but didn’t have four buttons of the same color. So they look completely adorable. Here is a picture of the completed one.

Will get the other one finished tomorrow and post an updated better picture of the set then. It’s going to look so cute on the baby that gets this set.

Progress has been made

Lately things have been a little crazy for me and I haven’t gottenuch done on the vertabrae sweater I have been knitting. Well tonight falls during wwkip week (world wide knit in public week) so I went out of the house and took time to meet up with others at Panera for stitch and bitch. I saw old friends and lots of people were interested in my work. I met up with the ladies and got to enjoy some me time and knitting with no kids. It was great and I actually accomplished a lot since I have been so lazy about knitting lately. I got all the arm finished on the sweater now I just have to do the trim which won’t take long at all and sew in the ends. It’s coming together quit nicely. Here’s a picture of what I have so far completed.

Now isn’t that looking lovely? I can’t wait for my little niece to come home from the hospital and be able to wear this sweater and if I have enough yarn left over I’m going to cast on some slippers for her feet as well. But we will have to see about that.

Kinda slow going

So it was a kinda slow going week. Not much got accomplished. But I can say we had a great day at the market. We provided two soakers in two different sizes for a local photographer. It was great to be able to provide this service for him. So glad to have met him and helped him with his business needs. Now I have the incentive to make more for others. It’s a great feeling when someone sees your hard work and appreciates it.

WIPS

This has been a busy couple of months I have been working on so many things for others. Currently I have two projects in the works. I’m finishing up the sleeves and trim of the vertebrae sweater for my hubbies sisters baby and then I started on a pretty pink and purple cotton/linen dress for his other sisters baby. Then I have to cast on for another baby in the family, actually make that two more babies. Whew, it’s going to be one busy summer. Here’s some pictures of the current WIPS.

Babies dress

So I took the plunge and cast on a baby dress designed by pickles it’s a dress and turban pattern. Not sure if ill get the turban but I’m pretty sure I have enough for the dress. It’s pale pink and pale purple. It’s going to be lovely. I’m learning how to carry yarn from one row to the next so it’s something new I’ve messed up but it’s not noticeable. Will get better with practice, I’m sure. Here’s a little eye candy of the beginning.

That was when I cast on at lunch today but I have gotten the hem and the first set of roles done and starting in the second set. Can’t wait to see it done. Looks like it will still fit my niece too.

Mother’s Day gifts

So Mother’s Day is fast approaching so I cast on my Mother’s Day gift for my mom. She loves the color yellow and so I bought some yellow cotton from the local craft store to knit into some super cozy slippers for her. The pattern calls for roses to be attached to the slippers but I don’t think I’ll do that part, the slipper itself is pretty without them, but who knows only time will tell. I got one completed today just gotta bind off and will get some homework caught up tomorrow then start on the other one once binding off is completed. I know she’s going to love them so I can’t wait for her to get them. Mother’s Day is very special to me since I’m very close to mine and I am a mother which makes a whole world of difference.

On another note I started reading yarn harlot today and I have to say I love her books. I’m such a knitter that I love reading knitting books or books that involve knitting in the plot. It’s become an obsession along with fabric shopping and yarn shopping, of which I do daily. I have a shopping cart full of yarn I need to but soon cause I just can’t wait to squish it. Lol

Here is the picture of my started Mother’s Day gift.

When completed they are going to be just lovely. I can’t wait to see her in them.

Now I’m just waiting on Jamie to get here to take them to the POST. She was supposed to be here hours ago but I have a feeling she went home to take a nap. Ugh slow people irritate me. Especially when something this important needs to be done. Anyways here is some progress photos.
