Learning to knit…

Since I started knitting i have been steadily learning as much as i can about knitting. I started knitting over the past summer when my twin sister decided to take up knitting so she could make longies and shorties for her son. She begged me to go with her to the classes but i did not have the money or the sitter to go and at the time i wasn’t interested in knitting. But shortly after she started i was sitting in my living room watching her knit and i said hey can you teach me how to knit. So we pulled out some needles and started knitting a hat. She felt that the easiest thing to learn on was a hat and at the time that is what i was wanting to knit anyways so it was only logical to start out there. Well then she introduced me to her teacher, lets call her D. She taught me how to knit better than what i was doing and with her i learned to finish a hat. The hat came out a little wonky so i started on another hat. The first one was knit to loose and then pulled tight to finish so it wasn’t the best looking hat. The second one was knit together perfect but i think i cast on too many stitches and used a yarn that i shouldn’t have used for a hat cause it came out with the brim being to loose and it was too short for my sons head. So my next project was the laptop cover which actually started out as a ipad cover. I ended up casting on too many stitches, even though i followed the directions in the pattern i found, it was still to many. I guess that is were gauging comes in cause i have a tendency to cast on too many stitches. But anyways, i turned it into a laptop cover cause it was wide enough for that. So i knitted it to be about half way and then started on a headband with cables. Which i have posted on here. The laptop cover is still a work in progress and the headband has been put aside for now. My current projects are two blankets. One for a friend of mines baby girl and one for my son. The one for my son has gotten much farther than the one for the girl. But as i steadily work on these projects i am learning more and more about my knitting journey. Like just today i learned how to add in the next skein. I think i got it right but i should have took my friend E’s advice and added it at the beginning of a row instead of more than half way down the row…
